Background and experience
A little bit about me…
I began delivering talk therapy in 2008 whilst training in Person-Centred therapy in voluntary settings, working with children, adolescents and adults. Prior to training I regularly volunteered for the mental health charity MIND, supporting young adults in the community and residential settings. As I gained more understanding and experience of a wide range of psychological difficulties, I recognised one of the most important aspects the clients needed and responded most to, was the caring, non-judgmental understanding and empathy in our established relationships.
Since qualifying in 2010 my career has offered me the opportunity and privilege to work with charitable eating-disorder women’s groups exploring body-image, self-esteem and self-awareness; as well as time in the UK and overseas building a residential psychological and wellbeing clinic. I was responsible for establishing a core treatment team, therapy team, treatment programme and working closely with patients, their families, nurses, psychiatrists and GPs. The focus throughout being on building and fostering close relationships at all levels which facilitated a healthy and sustainable recovery.
Following 5 years overseas, I returned home to the UK in 2015 and established my private practice working within an out-patients setting. I work closely with a solid network of esteemed professional psychiatrists, psychotherapists, dietitian’s and treatment specialists to ensure a broad and holistic approach and, in specialised cases can offer a comprehensive Case Management option in coordinating more complex conditions requiring multi-disciplinary treatment and/or broader family dynamics.
My training, qualifications and experience span humanistic and person-centred therapy; Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR); trauma informed therapy; Internal Family Systems (IFS); Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); Lifespan Integration (LI); schema therapy; experimental therapies (e.g., Gestalt); Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Attachment based theory and therapies.
I am passionate in helping people obtain the best support structures that can enable, empower and encourage them to build the healthiest version of self. You can contact me with total confidence that your concerns will be treated sensitively, respectfully, professionally and discreetly.
